Icy Ireland

with one comment

So my Macbook Pro battery is fried and I have slow and limited access to the internet. Done very little documentary work but was just inspired by my friend Jim Sugar and a program on his photography work from 1969 in Ireland that was featured on the cover of a National Geographic. He went back and did a follow up visit with the subjects of his photos to see where are they now – very well done. It’s on RTE. I can’t find the actual link on the connection I m on but it is somewhere on www.rte.ie.

My new camera RAW files can’t seem to be opened by my CS3 or Lightroom v.2 so I can’t open anything I shot the first part of my trip. Do not have the bandwith to do an internet research on a solution nor download a plug in even if I knew where to find the plug in. Open to suggestions!!

The weather has been record cold. One friend just told me she heard it was the coldest its been in 50 years for this time of  year in Ireland. It’s been 2 weeks of subzero temps (Celsius) and frozen ice all over all the roadways making travel on anything beyond the main motorways difficult, so my sightseeing has been limited to cities and anything near to Greystones, where I am staying. Just came back from a few days in Galway City for my birthday.

If you find yourself in Galway City check out Conley’s for Seafood. Local oysters, smoked salmon, calamari, mussels. One of the best meals of my life. Owner is terrific.

Meanwhile pics from the last few days of 2009. One of the raging sea here in Greystones, Wicklow County and one from Kilkenny County.
