It was a rare day that I had a date with my neglected other child, my Nikon. I had a day to drive around the fingerlakes. Here are some of my favorites from that beautiful sunny, rainy, stormy, humid day.

The South West Coast of Ireland is considered to be the “Irish Riviera” as it claims “The Best” weather in Ireland. “The Best” is a relative term, although we had mostly sunshine.

The Round Tower in Ardmore, County Waterford, Ireland

At the start of the Cliff walk in Ardmore, County Waterford, Ireland are ruins from the time of St. Declan who lived in the region around 350-450 AD.  Ardmore is thought to be  the oldest Christian settlement in Ireland. St. Declan Christianised this area before the coming of St. Patrick.

Another view of the round tower in Ardmore, County Waterford, Ireland

View from the Honeymoon suite at the Horetown House, County Wexford, Ireland

Faux house, real bicycle, downtown Ardmore, County Waterford, Ireland.

Two scenes from along the Copper Coast which is called as such due to the tradition of copper mining in the area.

Icy Ireland

with one comment

So my Macbook Pro battery is fried and I have slow and limited access to the internet. Done very little documentary work but was just inspired by my friend Jim Sugar and a program on his photography work from 1969 in Ireland that was featured on the cover of a National Geographic. He went back and did a follow up visit with the subjects of his photos to see where are they now – very well done. It’s on RTE. I can’t find the actual link on the connection I m on but it is somewhere on www.rte.ie.

My new camera RAW files can’t seem to be opened by my CS3 or Lightroom v.2 so I can’t open anything I shot the first part of my trip. Do not have the bandwith to do an internet research on a solution nor download a plug in even if I knew where to find the plug in. Open to suggestions!!

The weather has been record cold. One friend just told me she heard it was the coldest its been in 50 years for this time of  year in Ireland. It’s been 2 weeks of subzero temps (Celsius) and frozen ice all over all the roadways making travel on anything beyond the main motorways difficult, so my sightseeing has been limited to cities and anything near to Greystones, where I am staying. Just came back from a few days in Galway City for my birthday.

If you find yourself in Galway City check out Conley’s for Seafood. Local oysters, smoked salmon, calamari, mussels. One of the best meals of my life. Owner is terrific.

Meanwhile pics from the last few days of 2009. One of the raging sea here in Greystones, Wicklow County and one from Kilkenny County.

September Point and Shoot

leave a comment »

Point and Shoots…There is something to be said for them. Although without the delay I may have had more separation between the hat guy and the person behind him…and the boy on the right may not have as of yet left the frame! Well they free you up from exactness…kinda like a Holga. You never know what you are going to get.

So behind in post production that anything good I may have shot last month is still in the “To Edit” folder. Ugh! Anyone have any advice on Time Management? My awesome assistant left for Ohio University. I need help!

This was from a weekend up the coast when my parents visited. It’s that cool little sleepy town of Bolinas…although it seemed anything but sleepy on a warm September weekend day.
